1.1 beta refuses to work

description

Hi,

Due to all the enhancements I decided to try 1.1 beta but it's not working properly. First of all it does not start, when it starts I get a message like in the attached image.
Then the file is completely empty. So the message tells me I need to start as admin but I get the same message.

I'm working on getting an installer so this won't be an issue.

Create stuff Adam, really excited about the whole debugging thing! :)

Could you try 1.1 beta 2?

CatZ wrote Sep 8, 2010 at 8:47 AM

Certainly! Will get back to you on status

CatZ wrote Sep 8, 2010 at 9:17 AM

First i was acting all strange, then it asked for permission and when I try to open a ps1 file I get a null reference exception. Could it be something with x64?

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 8, 2010 at 8:51 PM

Can't imagine it's because it's x64. I've been developing this on an x64 Win 7 box. Are you running a non-English version of Windows?

CatZ wrote Sep 8, 2010 at 10:17 PM

On that machine I was running a Swedish version of windows. On my home machine it's strictly English baby. I'll install it on my home machine as well. Will get back to you in 30 minutes or so.

And proof that I was running as administrator already

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 2:08 PM

Are you running PowerGUI 2.2 Beta?

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 2:09 PM

Because it's required for this beta.

CatZ wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 3:33 PM

Sorry about wasting time, I did not read between the parenthesis.

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 3:38 PM

It's no problem at all. Is it working then?

CatZ wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 3:48 PM

No :) Visual Studio stopped working when I tried to open a ps1.

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 4:12 PM

When I get home I'm going to make a special build just for you :). I'll add a bunch more logging and stuff so that we can really identify what is going on.

CatZ wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 4:20 PM

It's not crashing VS2010 anymore but it is just an empty white screen. No content when I open the files

CatZ wrote Sep 9, 2010 at 9:55 PM

Coolio! Looking forward to it :)

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 10, 2010 at 2:42 AM

I'm not going to get a chance to work on this tonight. I'll let you know as soon as I get a build ready.

Log4net has been added. Put a configuration file called PowerGUIVSxLogConfig.xml to enable logging. An example configuration file is also attached to this issue.

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 13, 2010 at 3:07 AM

I've attached the example configuration file.

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 13, 2010 at 3:08 AM

My first comment should have said to put the config file in "My Documents"

That was a quickie! It tries to find .net dll's in PowerGUI folder instead of .NET folder!

AdamDriscoll wrote Sep 13, 2010 at 2:41 PM

Well those aren't actual errors. That is just PowerGUI VSX trying to load all the referenced assemblies for PowerGUI. I think it may be an unnecessary step but either way, that is expected behavior. It looks like everything is being registered correctly. I'm going to add even more logging to see if we can sniff out another error.

Sorry to get your hopes up!

AdamDriscoll wrote Jan 15, 2011 at 9:54 PM

This issue is outdated. Please use the new builds of PowerGUI VSX.
